4. LaJunta, Colorado to Wichita, Kansas

Leaving LaJunta, Colorado, we entered the Great Plains and crossed the border into Kansas.
Heading south from Dodge City we searched for Bucklin where we had a brief visit with Deak and Moni (Yeoman) Smith, Barbara's aunt and uncle:
Then we drove to Wichita to have dinner with Barbara's uncle and aunt, Virgil and Helen Betty (LaPlante) Barth. The home-cooked fried chicken and garden vegetables (green beans, cucumbers and tomatoes) were a welcome relief from the meals on the road.
