Storm: January 2023
The Calm before the Storm: In December 2022, we checked out our favorite beach and pier. All access to the cement ship was blocked, but the pier was intact. We enjoyed a nostalgic walk on the pier and the spectacular sunset.
January 5, 2023: The iconic cement ship broke away from the pier. Huge 25-35 foot waves wrecked the pier, the access road, the RV parking area, and retaining walls:
A few weeks later we saw the destruction up-close and later viewed pictures of the pier being demolished:
A dive crew works in April to remove the last few wood pilings that supported the pier at Seacliff State Beach:

The landmark pier is gone, but the memories remain prompted by the hulk of the 'cement boat', the beach, and picnic areas. Thanks for some great times and treasured memories. We will return again:
