3. Tucson to Pecos, Texas
Arizona to New Mexico to Pecos, Texas
Day Three: After loading up on a free Best Western breakfast we were back on the road on the 15th headed for Pecos Texas. It was a straight shot east on I-10 across Arizona’s endless dryscape dotted with cacti and into the painted desert of New Mexico to Las Cruces. From there we turned south towards the Mexican border between El Paso and Juarez. I kept thinking of Emma who may be too young to have any memories of California. Texas will host most of her earliest memories. There was plenty of time for road weary reflection as we headed east again and left I-10 for I-20 towards Pecos. Jennifer and family arrived in Pecos first since the truck couldn’t keep up with her. She arrived to a fancy suite at the Best Western Plus while Barbara and I were in a cramped room in the older Best Western Swiss Clock next door. After joining Jennifer, Emma and Sienna at the restaurant between our motels, we headed back to our rooms to rest up for the next day. Wyatt and Helena passed on dinner to enjoy the suite and a few welcome snacks.
