Dear Art and all,
Well since I wrote last I have been in Cheyenne & saw some country. It looks the same everywhere bare plains. There is some trees at Chey. as that is near the mountains. You said something about selling them cows. Wouldn’t it be better to sell old blacky and perhaps the best calf. We have enough feed to keep all the other stuff? Am sorry you didn’t get her on that north side. Think Yankton the best selling place. I was at Cousin Judy’s [Jennie (Lupkes) Judy, daughter of Jennie (Collin) Lupkes] after the Chey. trip until Sun. then came to Harry & Lizzie [Harry and Elizabeth (Lupkes) Stevens, daughter of Jennie Collin Lupkes] as Aunt Jennie Aunty [Jennie (Collin) Lupkes, sister of Englebart Karl Collin)] stayed at Chey. with Bena [Bena (Lupkes) Burma, daughter of Jennie Collin Lupkes]. I have gained about 10# in weight but as yet I can’t say my breathing is much better… am going to have a Dr. look me over again as soon as I get some money. I had to spend a little for nic nacs at Chey. otherwise I still have plenty. I only had 5$ when Ma left and have bought groceries & other things such as tub & tooth powd. Salve & cotton. The Jacks don’t believe in drinks. I got a letter from Evelyn. I’ll try & ans. Today. I expect to go to Jennie’s [?] Thurs & then stay a while at John & Judy’s [John and Jennie (Lupkes) Judy, daughter of Jennie (Collin) Lupkes]. That’s where Mamma and I had our Sun. dinner… mail all my letters to the old address…then I will stay a while at Lizzie & Harry’s…then I don’t know where. Am going to see a Dr. here as soon as I get the money & see how I am getting along. Well I write more next time & best regards to all. Dad
