Hiram Collins Letters
Burns Wyoming December 17, 1935

Dear Art:
I read your letter and would have answered sooner but haven’t felt so good. The last three or four days but am better again today. It snowed and blowed fierce out here. Glad to hear the pigs & calves were doing good. Keep plenty of dry straw in for the pigs & they will pay for the trouble. I haven’t been to Cheyenne yet. Had a couple chances to go but didn’t. Was to Burns once. I haven’t tasted a glass of Wyo. beer yet. Don’t suppose I will soon as nobody uses it around here. I was disappointed some in the corn yield but can’t get more than is there. Have you got it all out yet? Has Harold left for his trip yet? People are still drilling fall rye here and that perhaps we could get in that fall plowing some time before spring as it is so darn full of morning glory…hope everything is well around there so I don’t need much to spend. The wind blows here every day but the sun shines too. It don’t seem as though I could have gained 10#...would think I would be stronger…my ankles swell quite bad…think it must be my heart…perhaps too much altitude. It is 5400 feet here. Tell the folks I got the candy. Will have it for Xmas tomorrow at Jennie’s [Jennie (Collin) Lupkes, sister of Englebart Karl Collin)] Harry is going to town now so will have to ring off.
Love to all, Dad
Why don’t Harold write a line c/o Harry Stevens [Harry and Elizabeth (Lupkes) Stevens, daughter of Jennie Collin Lupkes] if you write in the next 3 or 4 days.
