TEMPLE CITY

Most Sundays in the 1940s my family drove up Rosemead Blvd. to Temple City to see Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Jim. We loved to explore the ranch that Grandpa had created from the dry riverbed, a wonderland of horses, chickens, rabbits, ducks, an enormous garden, and fruit trees. While we explored, Grandma made Missouri fried chicken for dinner.

In the 1950's our family of five crammed into our car during the summer (no air conditioning) and made the long journey from Fresno to Temple City to spend a week or two with Grandma and Grandpa. More time for adventures on the ranch and checking out the sites in southern California.
