JANUARY-MARCH 2011

The New Year began with our first trip to Old Sacramento and the Train Museum.

Mikayla and Tori shared the engineer's seat until Mikayla took over...

...then we played school in the one room school house.

March began with another trip to the Train Museum to celebrate Wyatt and Sienna's birthdays.

Helena took over as engineer then she and Wyatt helped Sienna with the toy trains.

Pinnacles National Monument

On the way to visit the Acevedo family, we stopped to tour the Pinnacles near King City.

Barbara and I squeezed our way through the cave until the water became too deep...

... then we hiked around for a better view of rock formations, climbers, and wildflowers:

SANTA PAULA

Riding south toward Santa Paula was a relief after all the climbing, hiking, and squeezing. The next morning we took a ride to Ojai where we all enjoyed the sunny weather and Ashley and Austin had lots of fun at the playground.

Later on we headed back to Santa Paula. Sina showed us her dog, Brando, while Arnie mowed the lawn. Grandma Debbie held Ashley, and Austin ventured into the cold March waters of Grandma and Grandpa Acevedo's pool.

OLD FOLKS AT DILLON BEACH

After a spectacular drive down the coast we ended up at Cheryl Reuter's beach house...

...where we spent a few days eating, sleeping, playing cards...

...checking out quilt shops nearby...

...visiting the site of Alfred Hitchcock's movie, The Birds...

...filmed at Bodega and Bodega Bay

...exploring treacherous spots...

...even tracking down an elusive camel on the journey back home...

...a perfect ending to our March getaway...
