Introduction

RCIA (The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process through which those inquiring about the Catholic faith learn about the Church, its doctrines, and its practices. Participants who have completed the process may choose to enter the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. The lessons presented here are intended for the use of participants in a parish. They may also be useful for those who are curious about the Catholic faith and are seeking an overview of its teachings.

The following lessons are based on material from the text, Life in Christ, by Frs. Gerard Weber and James Killgallon (Harper Collins Publishers). The questions portion are a listing of the main topics in Sections from the text. The answers are condensed answers from the text intended for the use of inquirers to check their own answers. Included with the answers are hot links in red which may clarify and expand the short answers. Other hot links take the user to questions asked by participants at RCIA sessions. The saint hot links take the user to a saint presented at each lesson.

A calendar is also included which serves as a guide to the presentations of the lessons in a typical year. It is designed to present the basics of the Catholic faith in one year or in any time frame to include 32 lessons.

I highly recommend two books to accompany this journey of faith: The Catechism of the Catholic Church (Libreria Editrice Vaticana), and the New Catholic Answer Bible (Our Sunday Visitor, Inc.).
