2. Ely, Nevada to Cortez, Colorado

Monday, July 14

Today we would start off in Nevada, cross the state of Utah, and end up in Colorado. By the end of the day we would also spend time in New Mexico and Arizona:

In the morning we passed by 13,063 ft. Wheeler Peak and the Great Basin National Park in Nevada...

...before entering Utah on our way to Cortez, Colorado. The landscape changed from mountain and forests to canyons, deserts, and colorful rock formations:

Arches National Park:

Dear Horse Point State Park:

As we neared Cortez, we saw a sign pointing to four corners. This unplanned detour was the highlight of the day.

We stood on a circle marking the corners of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona. Later, it was a short trip to the Lazy G RV park in Cortez.

Next: Cortez to LaJunta, Colorado
